Simultaneous remote interpretation
Simultaneous interpreting can be carried out by professional interpreters, with the appropriate equipment and under the supervision of a technician, even remotely.

Simultaneous interpreting at a distance to suit your needs
If it is not possible to organise large events physically on-site, simultaneous interpretation at the same time as the original speech is also possible remotely! This means that the organiser, participants, interpreter and technician can all work remotely.
The broadcast of a virtual event can be streamed to the world even if only part of it is on site: While the performers are on stage in the studio, the interpreters and technicians either in a soundproof room with a monitor in the studio or on the stage within sight of the stage in a soundproof booth. Event participants can be either partly on-site or entirely remote.
In any case, the interpreter always sits in a soundproofed room, either at the client's premises or at the Finnish Interpreting Service's studio. The best result is achieved when the interpreters can take turns in the same room or in the booth, as the sharing of notes is smoother. The technician can either be in the same room as the interpreters or remotely.
Technically, depending on the platform, remote simultaneous interpretation requires a suitable application and a computer or smart device with a stable internet connection. It is important for the success of the event and the interpretation to ensure that all participants' internet connection, platform and technology are working properly. The interpretation will be delivered from the interpreter's device to the devices of the participants who need it and have connected to the application, where they can choose the language channel that suits them best and hear the interpretation through their headphones in real time. In this way, all participants can hear the content of the event in their own language only.
Simultaneous remote interpretation allows more and more people to participate in events regardless of location. It is also a particularly ecological and economic choice. Moreover, it allows events to be organised even when, for one reason or another, it is not possible to organise them on site.
The benefits of remote simultaneous interpreting include:
- Broader participation: remote interpreting enables greater participation across cities and countries.
- Ecological: remote simultaneous interpreting saves the environment, as participants from different countries do not have to arrive on site.
- Financial savings: remote interpreting requires less financial investment than on-site interpreting.
- Certainty: remote interpreting can also be used in situations where it is not possible to organise events on site. In such cases, the event does not have to be cancelled altogether, but can be converted into a remote event.

What is simultaneous interpretation and what is needed?
Simultaneous interpreting, i.e. simultaneous interpreting by a speaker and an interpreter, is particularly suitable for large, multilingual events such as conferences. Traditionally, the interpreter sits in a soundproof booth - the original speech is transmitted to his or her headphones via simultaneous interpretation equipment, and the translation is transmitted via a microphone to the headphones of the participants who need it.
Simultaneous interpreters have their own channels for each language, allowing all participants to follow the event in real time in their own language. No extra time is needed for interpreting, and the interpretation does not disturb other participants.
Simultaneous interpreting is challenging because the interpreter has to interpret both quickly and with high quality. It is therefore important to book the interpretation in good time and to provide the interpreter(s) with the material for the event well in advance. Each language should be booked for a separate interpreter, and two interpreters should be booked for each language in rotation.
