Reference:Act on the Publicity of Government Activities (621/1999) 22§, 23§, 24§, 35 §§ Confidentiality for interpreters Confidential information is always handled in situations where the Immigration Service interprets. Information relating to interpretation requests is confidential. When acting as an interpreter on behalf of the Finnish Immigration Service or otherwise cooperating with the Service, I undertake to keep confidential any confidential, sensitive and non-public information that comes to my knowledge in connection with the activities of the Service, its clients or stakeholders. I also undertake to handle the above information with care so that it does not come into the possession or knowledge of third parties. I will not disclose any information that I learn during the interpreting to other staff, family members, friends or other third parties of the Immigration Service or of the person commissioning the interpreting. I may only discuss matters that come to my attention in connection with the interpreting situation or the interpreting with an official of the Immigration Service involved in the interpreting or with a specifically designated official. Any notes I may have taken during the interpretation will be handed over to an Immigration Service official or a security guard at the office for destruction after the interpretation. In addition to the information disclosed during the interpreting session, information that is covered by confidentiality includes information relating to the Immigration Service's information systems, security arrangements and premises, information that is covered by the protection of the privacy of individuals, and business and professional secrets of the Immigration Service and its clients or partners. Operational information of the Immigration Service or its partners is also normally confidential. Confidential information can be, for example, audible, stored on paper, electronic, in the form of an image or a drawing. The audio recording, copying or photographing of the above information is prohibited. I will ensure that the security arrangements of the Immigration Service are not compromised or brought to the attention of outsiders as a result of my actions. Movement and presence on the premises of the Immigration Service is only permitted to the extent necessary for the performance of my duties. I will keep the Immigration Service's visitor or interpreter card visible. I will return any access card I may have received to the Immigration Service when I leave the premises after my shift. The penalty for breaching the obligation of professional secrecy and the prohibition of exploitation is punishable under Chapter 40, Section 5 of the Criminal Code, unless the act is punishable under Chapter 38, Sections 1 or 2 of the Criminal Code or unless a more severe penalty is provided for in another law. This obligation of confidentiality shall survive the termination of my mandate or my resignation from the company or entity. I agree that a security clearance may be obtained for me.
